	An Overview of our work
	Working Plans　｜　Activities Update　｜　Achievements 1997-2000
	Working Plans of 1999 　The BCSD’s working plans of 1999 are briefly described as following. 1. Eco-Efficiency Metrics By cooperating with NCPC, an annual seminar on Eco-Efficiency Metrics and Cleaner Production Indicator will be held every year. The members’ environmental performance report on eco-efficiency will be published in June. There are eleven member companies’ environmental information will be reported. 2. Advocacy and Training A TV advertisement of the meaning of sustainability is produced and showed in the spring of 1999. A broadcast program for sustainable development is produced and on air from December 1998 to September 1999. The internet homepage of BCSD-Taiwan will be completed. A book on Taiwan Biodiversity – Lost Dancers will be published in September. 3. Seminar Environmental Risk Management for Taiwan Bankers One seminar will be held in November, following up the promotion in 1997 and 1998, by cooperating with USAEP and Banker Association of ROC. 4. Trade and Environment The first workshop on trade and environment will be held in May. A second year of join-course on "Trade and Environment" is started in February at Chung Yuan Christian University.
	Working Plans of 1998
	1998 is a very important year for BCSD-Taiwan. The major goals are to develop a constructive partnership between businesses and governments, and to draw much more attention by the businesses to the link between environmental and financial performance.
	BCSD-Taiwan has been invited this year to joint the Advisory Task Force of the National Council for Sustainable Development for providing the direct input of business perspectives for the national policy and program toward sustainable development. We are also invited to advise the strategy of the national environment education program.
	BCSD-Taiwan has made an extensive working plan for promoting the sustainability, which is briefly described as the following.
	1. Eco-efficiency metrics
	(a) Seminar on Cleaner Production and By-product synergy
	(b) Seminar on Recycling of Electronic Products
	(c) Member project for the recycling of office resources
	(d) Advocacy and training of eco-efficiency
	2. Advocacy and Training
	(a) A TV advertisement of the meaning of sustainability will be produced.
	(b) A broadcast program for sustainable development will be produced.
	(c) The internet homepage of BCSD-Taiwan will be completed.
	(d) The Photo album of the marine conservation around Green Island, Taiwan, will be 　　　published.
	3. Environmental Performance and Shareholder ValueOne seminar will be held in November, 　following up the promotion in 1997.
	4.Trade and Environment
	(a) One seminar will be held by cooperating with WBCSD and EPA of ROC in June / July or 　　September/October.
	(b) Publish Chinese version "Trade and Environment Bulletin".
	(c) Develop the training material for business by cooperating with the Department of 　　　International Trade of Chung Yuan Christian University.
	(d) A join-course of "Trade and Environment" will start in February at Chung Yuan Christian 　　University.
	5. Environmental Cost Accounting SystemA research with case studies will be completed by 　the end of November.
	6. Climate and EnergyIntroduce comprehensive practical strategies and measures to business 　for reducing the emission of greenhouse effect gases.
	7. Business Strategy Toward Sustainable DevelopmentDevelop the partnership with National 　Council for Sustainable Development of ROC for making the national guidelines of business 　strategy toward sustainable development.
	8. Environment Management System
	(a) Promote the long term environment strategy of business development.
	(b) Host seminar on ISO 14000.
	Projects of 1997
	BCSD-Taiwan, has devoted itself to the following major projects in 1997: a seminar on the environmental strategy of business towards sustainable development; publication of a photographic album about marine conservation around Green Island, Taiwan; research on environmental cost accounting; and a program involving the recycling of office materials
	By cooperating with WBCSD, one workshop on Global Trend of Business Sustainable Development and one seminar Environmental Performance and Shareholder Value were held in July and November of 1997.
